Economic development of underutilized areas of Mill Creek has been the City’s focus since the adoption of Mill Creek’s Strategic Plan on April 10, 2012.

Mill Creek’s Strategic Plan and Comprehensive Plan both highlight the East Gateway Urban Village as a main source of increased revenue for the City.

Puget Sound Energy working with Mill Creek to improve road patches

A Puget Sound Energy paving contractor is in the process of replacing the temporary cold-patch on Village Green Drive and 148th Street SE with a more permanent hot-patch that will be much smoother and more drivable. Part of the patched roadway will be completely refinished with an overlay this summer.

36th Annual Washington State Patrol-Kiwanis Youth Law Enforcement Career Camp now accepting applications

Applications are currently being accepted for the 36th Annual Washington State Patrol-Kiwanis Youth Law Enforcement Career Camp to be held at the Washington State Patrol Academy in Shelton from July 7 through July 13, 2013.

Washington State high school juniors and seniors with an interest in law enforcement as a career will have an opportunity to spend a week this summer learning about the roles and job opportunities within law enforcement.

Applications are currently being accepted for the 36th Annual Washington State Patrol-Kiwanis Youth Law Enforcement Career Camp to be held at the Washington State Patrol Academy in Shelton from July 7 through July 13, 2013.

Space is available for only 24 students, so submit your application now!

County Councilmember Gossett proposes to leverage low interest rates to preserve open space

Snohomish County Councilmember Dave Gossett presented a plan to leverage the current low interest rates to greatly expand the preservation of open space within Snohomish County at the January 15, 2013 meeting of the Conservation Futures Advisory Board.

Burn bans lifted in King and Snohomish Counties

Due to stagnant weather conditions, a Stage 1 burn ban remains in effect for Pierce County, until further notice.  Burn bans have been lifted for King and Snohomish counties, effective at 1 p.m. on January 21, 2013.

Due to stagnant weather conditions, Stage 1 burn bans are in effect for King, Pierce and Snohomish counties, until further notice. 

"Cold and calm conditions will persist for a few more days," said Dr. Phil Swartzendruber, agency forecaster. "In neighborhoods where wood-burning is common, air pollution levels could reach the UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS category."

"We encourage everyone who doesn't rely on wood heat to use instead their home's cleaner source of heat until weather conditions change."
