AMVETS Mill Creek Post 2018 invites all honorably discharged veterans of any era and/or current active/reserve/guard duty personnel to their monthly meeting at 6:00 pm on Monday, June 3, 2019. The meeting will be held on the second floor of Mill Creek City Hall North in Suite 201.
During May we participated in JROTC/ROTC medal ceremonies at eight different local high schools as well at the University of Washington and Seattle University.
A Marysville High School Navy JROTC cadet who is also a student athlete, will receive his medal at our June 3rd meeting. We have made arrangements with one of his instructors to make the presentation.
We have also invited his parents, family and instructors to attend.
Also, a $50 first-place Americanism essayprize and Commanders appreciation certificate will be presented to Everett High School Senior Alex Peterso at the same meeting.
In addition to making veterans more visible, AMVETS Mill Creek Post 2018 has set as a goal to reinvigorate a higher sense of Patriotic respect for the flag and our history in our community and the local schools.
To accomplish this we will provide veterans to speak at assemblies and local events. Additionally we support the ROTC and JROTC programs in our local schools and university.
We also are seeking contact with Gold Star families in the area.
