The Mill Creek Police Department invites the community to connect with them at Coffee with a Cop events happening at three coffee shops around the city on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, from 7:30 to 10:00 am.
Not unique to Mill Creek, National Coffee with a Cop Day is a community outreach campaign dedicated to breaking down barriers between law enforcement and the citizens they serve on a daily basis. This organic interaction in a coffee shop setting allows for open communication and trust to build over a cup of coffee.
Mill Creek police will be at the following locations ready to converse with residents:
- Buffalo Espresso, 15109 35th Avenue SE, Mill Creek.
- Starbucks Town Center, 15517 Main Street, Mill Creek.
- Starbucks Murphy’s Corner, 2130 132nd Street SE, Mill Creek.
“Coffee with a Cop is an enjoyable event for our officers to take part in,” said Sergeant Stan White. “It’s an opportunity for us to interact with our residents outside of typical police duties.”
National Coffee with a Cop began as a grassroots campaign in Hawthorne, California in 2011. The Hawthorne Police Department was looking for a simple way to break down barriers and establish trust throughout their community.
Coffee with a Cop events are now held in all 50 states and is one of the most successful community oriented policing programs across the country.
