From a March 27, 2019, Everett Public Schools news release.

Kay Fantin has accepted the Everett Public Schools Foundation’s offer to replace Kristie Dutton, who retired after leading the Foundation for nearly 12 years.

In this executive director role, Fantin will maintain and grow the Foundation’s relationships with the community and continue to develop support for the district’s educational programs.

Fantin has development and donor relations experience from both United Way of Snohomish County and from the YMCA of Greater Seattle, as well as years of customer service and relationship management experience. She also has a degree in elementary education. Fantin as well has 30 years of executive experience with Nordstrom.

“The Foundation is pleased to have Ms. Fantin as our new executive director,” stated Rich White, Everett Public Schools Foundation Board President.

He went on to say, “She has the experience, expertise and passion we were looking for to grow the work of the foundation.”

And, Everett Public Schools Foundation is doing great work. Having just completed their 25th annual fundraising breakfast, they raised $225,000 to support programs and students in Everett Public Schools.

About $26,000 of that was earmarked for the newly-named “Kristie’s Community Care Fund” in honor of retired executive director Kristie Dutton. This fund provides $1,000 to each school in the district to help meet basic needs of students, like a ride to a shelter, a meal, or personal care.

The majority of the funds raised every year go to the following programs:

  • New teacher grants.
  • College in the High School tuition support.
  • Summer school and online high school tuition support.
  • Everett Ready.
  • Classroom grants.

Fantin will begin work with the foundation on April 22, 2019.
