Steven and Vanessa Lopez wanted to do something positive in Mill Creek when they started up Mill Creek’s newest entertainment destination. After several months of construction and jumping through organizational hoops, The Filmore Entertainment Lounge opened for business in Mill Creek Town Center on October 10th, and is starting to gain traction in the community.
Video gaming has gotten a bad reputation as antisocial from some people. A number of politicians want to outlaw or restrict some games. Lopez believes video games can be the core of a social experience, “I wanted to create a space for families and friends to socialize. Gamers of all ages can sit side by side and interact in a warm and safe environment. We want people to embrace gaming as a whole-family experience.”
In creating The Filmore, Lopez built a social environment for video gaming, giving families the opportunity to get out of the house and connect, “We are really applicable to a wide range of demographics. Moms can bring their kids in during the day and enjoy a cup of coffee with their friends while their kids socialize with their friends. Older kids can hang out together after school. Adults can have a glass of wine or beer while playing their favorite video game.”
The Filmore has over 20 Playstation 4 and Xbox 1 gaming stations that are both Internet-driven and inner-connected via a high-speed local area network. Patrons can game independently, or in a group (local area network) party setting.
Lopez said that The Filmore offers a high-end experience, “If we were going to do this, we wanted to do it right and offer high-end equipment, food and drink. Our locally roasted coffee is Velton’s, scored 94 out of 100 by coffeereview.com. We have 1080p 40-inch video screens and Turtle Beach headsets for the best gaming experience.”
The Filmore is open seven days per week.
- Mondays through Thursdays 8 am to 8 pm.
- Fridays and Saturdays 8 am to midnight.
- Sundays 8 am to 6 pm.
- Draft Beer selection of IPAs, Porters, Ales, and Ciders from local breweries priced at $4.75 per bottle/$4.00 per bottle during Happy Hour.
