At the August 6, 2018, Board of Commissioner’s meeting, Fire Chief Gary Meek had the honor of pinning our newly promoted Lieutenant, Michael McConnell. He took his oath and received his badge in the presence of his family, colleagues, and the Board of Commissioners.

Lieutenant McConnell was hired with Fire District 7 in 2008 as a firefighter/EMT.  Prior to being hired, he was a part-time firefighter with Lake Stevens Fire. Through his career at Fire District 7 he has been a member of the Strategic Plan Committee, Peer Support Team Selection Panel, and helped with the Fire Contract Negotiations with the City of Mill Creek.

In 2011 McConnell was appointed as Union President for the Firefighter Union Local 2781. He has spent most of his career being assigned to Station 72.

McConnell will be assigned as a Company Officer in the upcoming Snohomish County Fire Training Academy that will begin in October. Once the academy is completed, he will be assigned to his new station and crew.

McConnell continues to embody Fire District 7’s slogan of Earning Trust Through Action and works to provide the highest level of service to our citizens and is always seeking ways to improve.
