With input from our friends at FurKidz 911, each week we will be featuring a dog that needs a loving home.
“Percy Harvin" is a two to four years old female Dachshund/Chihuahua mix that weighs 12 lbs. She is from a shelter in California and was transferred into our rescue in early March.
Ms. Percy is getting to know her dog foster brother and sisters and understanding what it is like to be in a home again after being in a shelter in California. She is getting used to noises in a home and not being afraid of them. Her foster family is working with her on building her confidence and her foster siblings are helping her with that.
She has quickly become a daddy’s girl and loves to snuggle up with him as soon as he gets home from work. She is starting to explore playing with toys and chewing on deer antlers. She loves her car rides and if you go to a drive-thru with her she wants to say hi to everyone at the window. Every day more and more of her personality is starting to come out.
She is still very much of a California dog that wants to lie in the sun whenever it appears inside or outside the home. She doesn’t like to go out in the cold or rain and at times does have to be coaxed to go outside to go to the bathroom. She is housebroken so if she doesn’t go out at first due to weather, she will go out a few hours later.
She does know sit once she calms down. She needs some training on walking on a leash. She loves food and most treats. She does a happy dance when it is meal time. She is fine with other dogs and food if it is their dog food, but human food she seems to become protective and her foster family is working with her on this. Sometimes when she is playing with her toys, she can be mouthy with her human if you try to play so she may not do well with younger children.
Percy's adoption fee is $240. Adoption fee includes spay, full vaccinations including rabies, flea medicated, dewormed, heartworm tested (negative), microchip, health certificate and transport fee.
Percy is available for a Meet & Greet after an approved and verified adoption application. This is the first step in our adoption process. This helps us to determine the right match for our rescue dogs and your lifestyle and home environment. Our Meet & Greet/Adoption Application is available at:
