The free 2020 Mill Creek Citizen Police Academy will be held March 25th through May 27th to introduce members of the community to police work.

The annual Mill Creek Police Department Citizens Academy is packed with exciting topics and hands-on activities. Each night has a different group of presenters from the police department and partner law enforcement agencies around the county.

Attendees will get to know everything they ever wanted to know about how the different areas of police work are approached and handled, what resources are available to our officers, what happens behind the scenes when you call 911, and so much more. Every officer and technician will be giving out their cards so you can reach them directly later if you like.

This is an exciting opportunity to learn about the real life of police officers, detectives, K9 handlers, property technicians, and so much more. Set aside what you see on TV and get to know real officers who train and work hard to serve and protect us all.

"The Police Citizen's Academy was an incredibly enriching experience in numerous ways,” said Carmen Fisher, 2018 Citizens Academy cohort member. “We got to know local law enforcement personnel, with the pleasure of seeing the tremendous character of our officers. The information presented was extensive and valuable, certain to be of lifelong use. And we had a lot of laughs and fun at the same time. This is community policing at its finest. I enjoyed every minute of class, and would highly recommend it.”

Each meeting we will provide refreshments, but attendees can also feel completely free to bring food of their own to eat during the class if they like.

The weekly classes will take place on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 pm in the community room at City Hall North, 15720 Main Street in Mill Creek.

The course is open to Mill Creek residents, as well as others in surrounding communities, who are 18 years of age and older.
