By Marge Rhodes, Friends of the Mill Creek Library.
After many years, the Friends of the Mill Creek Library are leaving their current “home” for their book donations to a new storage unit provider. The current provider increased the rent from zero to over $300 per month.
The Friends need their storage unit for storing and sorting donated books for the annual book sale. Because the Friends are a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 organization, their funds are limited and the cost to rent a storage unit is prohibitive to the success of their mission
At first, the Friends were devastated by the news. However, the manager of Sound Storage of Mill Creek, located at 4012 148th Street S.E., has stepped up and offered a large unit for no charge. The unit is inside a building and is climate controlled, a much better situation than at the previous location. Now the sorting and shelving can be accomplished without gloves or frozen hands!
The Friends thank Isaiah Smith, the manager of Sound Storage, for helping them resolve their problem. We highly recommend Sound Storage for anyone’s storage needs.
Editor's note: On February 28th the author of the original February 24, 2020, article revised it to remove the name of the storage unit provider who raised their storage fees.
