Grammy nominated producer, composer, and instrumentalist Josh Rawlings made a guest appearance for Girl Scout Troop 42725 on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, as they earned their music badge.
The girls are all 5th Graders at Mill Creek Elementary, who have been in the troop together since Kindergarten.
According to Scott Harder, who set up the get-together through mutual friends and his Make-A-Wish volunteer work, “Rawlings inspired everyone, even the adults, and made a lasting impression on our local youth.”
For the past ten years Rawlings has been performing Jazz-rooted, original music in several Seattle based groups. He has been touring nationally with the Jason Parker Quartet and The Teaching and shared the stage with Al Green.
Since the age of three, music has been a constant in Rawlings’ life with the piano being his first real love.
On Rawlings’ website he wrote, “Creating joyful, uplifting and fun live music is the reason of why I’m a musician and take the stage.”
According to Harder, Rawlings played several different types of music from jazz – Macklemore, pop - Justin Timberlake, classical, and more, inspiring the girls to chase their dreams, work hard, and be diligent about who and what they want to be in life.
Harder added that: “The girls interviewed him after he played some of his famous songs such as ‘Same Love’ and ‘Downtown.’ Both songs were sung by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and were top hits on the music charts.”
Rawlings also performed “BomBom” from the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis album "The Heist."
