On Sunday, March 5, 2017, Fire Commissioner Guy Palumbo officially resigned from his position on Snohomish County Fire District 7’s Board of Fire Commissioners.

Palumbo was recently elected to the Washington State Senate, and although his desire was to finish the rest of his term as a Fire Commissioner, his primary focus is now on his new duties as a Senator.

“He (Palumbo) has been a great asset for the citizens of Fire District 7. His positive work ethic, professionalism and dedication to getting the job done has served us all well,” said Commissioner Chairmen, Roy Waugh.

Palumbo has served on the Board of Fire Commissioners for Fire District 7 for four years.

After the merger of Fire District 3 into Fire District 7, the district has been working under a 10-person board.

Through the election process, the number of commissioners will eventually be reduced back down to five.

In accordance with RCW 52.06.085 (2), Commissioner Palumbo’s position is not considered to be a vacancy that needs to be filled due to the number of remaining board members.

Fire District 7 appreciates all of the hard work and vision that Palumbo brought to the board.

He will be missed and we wish Senator Palumbo the best of luck with his future endeavors in his new position.
