High school baseball: Archbishop Murphy 10, Lynden 6

Aaron Swaney of the Everett Herald reports that the Wildcats beat the Lions 10-6 in a 2A Northwest District Tournament game in Anacortes on Saturday afternoon. Both teams are going to the state baseball tournament on Saturday, May 19th.

"It was never more than a two-run game until the bottom of the fifth inning, when Archbishop Murphy scored seven runs to break the game open on its way to a 10-6 win," said Swaney. "Junior Derrick Mahlum got the win, allowing five runs and pitching into the sixth inning."

The Archbishop Murphy High School baseball team will play Interlake High School in the first game of the 2A state baseball tournament at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham on Saturday, at 10 AM. The winner of this  game will go on to play again at 4 PM, and the loser exits the tournament.
