The Everett Herald reports that the Burlington-Edison shutout the Wildcats 5-0 in a 2A District Tournament game at Daniels Field on Tuesday afternoon.
"A winner-to-state game is generally not a good time for a team to have two runners thrown out at the plate in one inning or commit a season-high number of errors," said the Herald. "Archbishop Murphy did both and Burlington-Edison made the Wildcats pay dearly, upsetting the Cascade Conference champions to secure a state playoff berth."
Burlington-Edison's next game will be against Bellingham High School for the Cascade District Championship at Daniels Field on Saturday, May 12th at 2:00 PM.
Archbishop-Murphy can still take third place in the Cascade District tournament and advance to the state playoffs if they win their next two games.
Archbishop-Murphy next plays Cedarcrest High School at Volunteer Park on Saturday, May 12th, at 11:00 AM.
