Doug Drowley of the Seattle Times reports that the Vikings defeated the Timberwolves 2-1 at Jackson High School in a 4A District 1 tournament soccer match at Everett Memorial Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Drowley said that although Lake Stevens lost to Mariner High School in a shootout on Saturday, May 5th, they ended up winning that match by forfeit when Mariner High School were found to have used an ineligible player. As a result, Lake Stevens advanced to play Jackson at Jackson High School.
"Caleb Houvener gave Jackson the initial lead, getting into the box and banging a ball past Lake Stevens keeper James Tanner in the 17th minute," said Drowley. "That lead lasted all of eight minutes. The Vikings tied it in the 25th minute on a spectacular solo play from Kyle Lawson."
Drowley said that Peter Otusanya scored the game winning goal to give Lake Stevens the victory.
Lake Stevens advances to the District title match against Edmonds-Woodway on Thursday, May 10th, at 7:30 PM.
Jackson plays Kamiak High School on Thursday, May 10th, at 5:30. They can advance to the State tournament if they win this match and the following match against the third place King County team.
