A huge component of Inner Athlete’s client weight loss success is a focus on clean eating. Clean eating means focusing on eating whole food. Whole food is food that is unprocessed and unrefined, or processed and refined as little as possible before being consumed.
Whole foods typically do not contain added ingredients, such as sugar, salt, or fat. They can be from animal or plant sources. Moreover, they are full of micronutrient vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytochemicals, and fiber.
Whole food does not imply organic or gluten-free. Just because a food is organic or all natural does not mean it is a whole food. This is a really good description of what clean eating and whole foods actually means.
The complicated part comes when our clients have to go to the grocery store and get foods that fit the bill. This is where Central Market in Mill Creek has really helped us out.
On September 13th, Inner Athlete Members joined Terra Stoich, Central Market’s Culinary expert and resident clean eating guru, for an educational store tour and healthy culinary demonstration.
Clients discovered tons of information about whole foods including recipes, label reading and their location in the store to make for quick and efficient shopping. According to Terra, “Clean eating is usually accomplished by shopping the perimeter of the store. This means Produce, Seafood, Meat and Dairy with the occasional trip into the center of the store for pantry items.”
Inner Athlete co-owner Carissa Norman said, “The best thing about working with the experts at Central Market is that we can trust they are committed to partnering with local, organic and fair trade producers of most of the products they carry in the store. In other words they trace the food that our clients buy literally from the farm, lake, ocean, or river it came from to the store.”
“Because Central Market traces foods to their source we know they will offer whole, nutrient dense options. This ensures that our clients are moving toward their weight loss goals in a healthy way.”
“Inner Athlete keeps eating healthy and losing weight simple. Guessing what to eat and when to eat is over for you. No more experimenting with fad diets that don’t work. We take the thinking out of it for you by providing you with simple nutritional guidelines to follow,” said Norman.
