Sordel’s appointment is until November 2013 when his seat comes up for election. The winner of this election will serve a four year term.

On April 30, 2013 Sordel announced that he has filed for election to his City Council seat.

Candidate's statement:

“In November, 2012, I was appointed by the City Council to fill seat #1 which was vacated by Terry Ryan. At that time, I promised the Council that I would run for the seat in 2013.  I am pleased to announce I fully intend to fulfill that promise as I have filed to run for seat #1 on the Mill Creek City Council.”

“I am seeking election to the City Council because I want to devote my time, experience and energy to help Mill Creek thrive. If elected, I intend to promote and help create public policies that will ensure Mill Creek retains the quality of life we enjoy. I will do my best to help the city manage growth, and work to keep our business community strong. I also believe my experience in working in the public sector for over 30 years provides me with knowledge to enhance the city's physical infrastructure, promote public safety and protect our environment.”
