Mill Creek’s run to the Little League Softball World Series ends

The Mill Creek Little League Softball all-stars team’s run to the Little League Softball World Series ended on Thursday, July 25, 2019, when Hawaii beat them 4-0 in the West Region Tournament semi-final game.

Washington State’s Championship team from Mill Creek faced off against a strong Hawaii team from Honolulu for the second time in the tournament, getting blanked both times.

The Hawaii team went on to win the West Regional Championship, advancing to the Little League Softball World Series from August 7th to 14th in Portland, Oregon.

Mill Creek pitcher Yanina Sherwood struck out 11 batters, but gave up four hits and four runs to Hawaii’s offense.

Leneyah Mitchell got Mill Creek’s only hit, a single in the fourth inning.

Mill Creek beat Southern California twice to advance to the semi-final game. They won 3-2 on July 21st and 3-1 on July 24th.

Mill Creek’s 11 and 12-year-olds advanced to the Little League Softball West Region Tournament in San Bernardino by winning the Washington State Championship in Poulsbo on July 7th.

They came out on top by winning all five state championship tournament games and outscoring their opponents 52-3.

Mill Creek’s roster includes: Addison Bale, Kyla Conant, Elena Eigner, Cael Hare, Kiana Holden, Leneyah Mitchell, Gabrielle Raysbrook, Yanina Sherwood, Allie Thomsen, Emery Tulio, Kendall Westman, Reese Westman, and Aubree Orr.
