At their regular May 21, 2015, meeting Mill Creek’s Design Review Board conditionally approved the overall architectural design for the new private preschool to be built in the East Gateway Urban Village.
Building permits for the school can now be issued and construction will begin later this year.
All new Mill Creek developments, except those involving individual single-family homes, must have their plans approved by the Design Review Board. This ensures new construction conforms to the City’s strict design guidelines.
The school's proposed design includes a one-story 12,000 square foot building with a parking lot for 40 stalls, perimeter landscaping, and a 13,500 square foot outdoor playground enclosed with a decorative fence.
It is part of Polygon Northwest’s multi-use residential development.
According to their website, Primrose Schools is an accredited private preschool organization operating more than 285 schools in 23 states. Their schools provide early learning opportunities for infants and children up to kindergarten age.
Ed and Larisa Hamilton own and operate the Primrose School of Mill Creek franchise.
In an April 10, 2015, letter to the Mill Creek City Council Primrose Schools President Jo Kirchner wrote, “The Hamiltons are excited to join the Mill Creek community and contribute positively to its economy with the hiring of more than 30 dedicated and passionate teachers and staff members, who will provide a nurturing environment for children to learn and be happy.”
