The Mill Creek City Council unanimously approved an employment contract with Michael Ciaravino at its April 23, 2019, meeting.
Ciaravino’s appointment as the City Manager is effective May 6th. He will receive a base salary of $175,000 annually.
The anticipated duration of his contract is three years, and the agreement will continue year-to-year unless otherwise terminated.
Ciaravino served as the City Manager of the City of Newburgh, N.Y., from 2014-2018. He previously served the City of Maple Heights, Ohio, in various capacities from 1991-2007, including: Chief Executive Officer and Mayor (2003-07); Safety Director (2003-07); and Lead Counsel (1991-2003). He also served the City of Maple Heights in 2003 as Director of Administrative Services on an interim basis. Ciaravino practiced local government law from 1991-2014.
Ciaravino holds a juris doctorate degree from Case Western Reserve School of Law in Ohio, and a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from John Carroll University in Ohio.
The city council also extended the contract of Robert Stowe through May 6th to continue serving as interim city manager until Ciaravino arrives and to provide for some transition time.
