The popularity of dancing shows on television and in movies is well known, but have you ever considered that gardening and dancing are similar? Both are a creative form of expression; both involve planned moves with preparation and both gardeners and dancers aspire to a great finish as they rock their individual style.
Use your imagination as you shake and shimmy through the Six Open Gardens on this year’s Mill Creek Garden Tour—no dancing shoes required.
Move your feet to a Salsa beat and a Sustainable Landscape Design where nine large trees have been removed and replaced to create a four-season garden. Toss in some homegrown fruit, veggies and herbs; add some spice with unique, specialty stepping-stones and wall art for sale and you are off to a rousing start.
Now try a slow Foxtrot In the Woods where texture and color create year-round interest, then accelerate with a challenging Quick Step into the back garden to see a stunning stone patio which overlooks the owner-designed berm and a sloping green belt that give this garden its name. It’s sure to score a 10!

No need to be a tutu-clad ballerina, but you’ll get style points if you pirouette through Sun Rose Heaven. If you’re in the groove, you’ll get the relaxed feeling of being on vacation with the private, natural scenery, a water feature and gas fireplace adding to your blissful vibe.

It’s time to Tango past the lovely manicured front yard into the back garden where you’ll be enchanted with the Glass Flower Collection while parking yourself on a stunning bench overlooking Cherry Pond—who knew there’s a water view in Mill Creek! But don’t get too relaxed; it’s not time for the finale yet.

You’re more than half way through this journey, so how about a nice slow Waltz as you embrace the Peace and Tranquility Retreat of an Asian-influenced garden on Mill Creek Golf Course. Fore! Be sure to linger long enough to enjoy the colorful pots full of summer flowers before you sashay off to the last garden.

Yee haw! Grab a cowboy hat and Two Step in 4/4 time into a Cozy Retreat in Wildflower where hummingbirds, a bubbling stone fountain and vivid color combinations will make you glad you kicked up your heels as the curtain falls on another fun-filled Mill Creek Garden Tour.
