The Mill Creek City Council honored the Mill Creek Little League U12 Softball Team for winning the Washington State Championship at their regular September 27, 2016, meeting.

The Mill Creek team was undefeated in the Washington State Championship Tournament in Spokane. They beat Woodinville, last year’s champions, 11-3 in the final game on July 15th.

Advancing to the Western Regional Little League Championship Tournament in San Bernardino, California, the Mill Creek team started off strong by winning their first three games against Arizona, Wyoming, and Nevada.

Unfortunately they lost their fifth tournament game against a very tough Hawaii team and were eliminated from contention.

The city council recognized the players and their coaches for displaying talent, sportsmanship, hard work, and dedication to their team.

The players and coaches recognized during the proclamation ceremony were:

Players: Abby Pennylegion, Amanda Wininger, Annie Coe, Ava Mills, Avery Hare, Deirdre Delgado, Emily Fetting, Haley Warren, Kalia Zallmer, Kayla Peacocke, Lauren Whitley, and Sydney Warren.

Coaches: Manager Page Dearborn, Coach Larri Werner, and Coach Kristen Ryan.
