I am pleased to announce I will run for re-election to Position 4 on the Mill Creek City Council.

Under the Council's direction, and the leadership of new City Manager, Rebecca Polizzotto, the City has re-organized staff to better utilize their talents and skills to more efficiently deliver services to the citizens. The City implemented a re-model of City Hall to provide much needed space for employees, saving the City over $8 million in previously planned capital expenditures. Most importantly, this Council recently adopted a balanced budget for the 2017/2018 biennium, erasing what had been a projected $2.4 million deficit and protecting the City's $6+ million in cash reserves. I am proud of what we have accomplished.

While much has been accomplished more work remains to be done. If re-elected I would have three main priorities.

First, work to provide long-term sustainability for a balanced City budget. The recently adopted balanced budget is a significant short term accomplishment. I would like to work with the Council to develop policies and strategies for a long-term fiscally responsible and sustainable budget that protect the City's reserves.

Second, continue ongoing efforts for economic development and tourism to promote City businesses. I would like to find ways the City can facilitate re-development of the former Safeway site and development of the last undeveloped parcels in the East Gateway area.

Third, identify options and implement a preferred strategy for the 10-acres owned by the City adjacent to Freedom Field. Much is happening in the area near Freedom Field with the upcoming opening of Mill Creek Sports and the recent ground breaking for Arena Sports. These developments will have a positive economic impact on the City and provide synergies and opportunities for the City. It is time for the City to analyze how best to utilize the property purchased almost 10 years ago.

It has been a pleasure and a privilege to serve on the City Council.  I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to represent the citizens of Mill Creek for another four years.
