Mill Creek Store happy to name Jessica Perez as store manager.
Long-time employee Jessica Perez was promoted to manager of the Mill Creek University Book Store on July 1, 2015. She succeeded Josephine Bobbit, who retired after 11 years of service with the store.
Perez started as a bookseller at the Mill Creek University Book Store in 2004, when the store was still under construction in the Mill Creek Town Center. Over the next 10 years, she would work as both project coordinator and finally store supervisor, a position that prepared her to take over the managerial role.
“I ended up really liking the environment, the store, and everything it stands for,” Perez said of her decade of dedication to University Book Store.
Perez, originally from Leavenworth, Wash., graduated from Central Washington University with a degree in secondary English education. She now lives with her husband and two children, ages seven and two, in Mill Creek.
“We really wanted to raise our family in this area because we both came from small towns,” she said.
Perez hopes to bring her personal connection to Mill Creek to a professional level. As the town continues to welcome new families, she plans to increase the store’s participation in the community.
For starters, Perez plans on finding ways to better integrate University Book Store into the folds of the Mill Creek Town Center.
But you can also find Perez on the selling floor, reading to local children at StoryTime events, or recommending her latest literary crush to a shopper.
“My favorite thing about University Book Store is the variety of customers and the variety of things I get to learn each day,” Perez said.
