School board to review application materials on Friday, January 24th.
By Mary Waggoner, Everett Public Schools Director of Communications.
When the deadline closed at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014, seven Everett School District residents had submitted application materials for Everett Public Schools Board of Directors Position 4. They are Zach Anders, Michelle Black, Daniel Mills, Traci Mitchell, Arletha Northrop, Kristine Petereit, and Rodman Reynolds. Position 4 became available in early January when former board member Jessica Olson announced her resignation.
Mitchell and Petereit were among candidates previously considered and interviewed for appointment to Position 3, which was vacated in December. Reynolds was among the seven who applied for Position 3 and was one of two applicants not selected for the interview process. Anders, Black and Mills were not applicants in that earlier board member replacement process.
On Friday, January 24th, the board will review the application materials of applicants who met today’s deadline and expressed interest in serving as a director for the remaining two years of the vacated term of office.
Interviews and a final decision about who will be appointed to Position 4 will be made in an open public meeting on Monday, February 3, 2014. The interviews begin at 3 p.m. in the Board Room of the Community Resource Center at 3900 Broadway in Everett.
When Position 3 was vacated, the board established a timeline and process and for nominations, applications and appointment of qualified applicants:
- Thursday, January 16, 2014, by 4:30 p.m. nominations to be received by the superintendent’s office.
- Thursday, January 23, 2014, by 4:30 p.m. applications to be received by the superintendent’s office. (Nominations are not required. Those who are nominated may choose to take the next step in the process to apply to be considered among candidates to fill Position 4.)
- Friday, January 24, 2014, the board will review applications and select candidates for interview.
- Monday, February 3, 2014, the board will interview candidates and appoint a successor.
