October 25, 2013, update: According to Tom Rogers, Mill Creek Community Development Director, the two new tenants who will move into the new building are MOD Pizza and Wells Fargo Bank.

An interesting aspect of the MOD Pizza store is the large glass walls at the south side of the building (facing McDonanld's) which can be raised on warm sunny days, and closed on the cold rainy days.

According to their website, MOD Pizza was founded in 2008 with the opening of a store in Seattle. In early 2010, MOD2 was opened in Bellevue, and MOD3 was opened in the University District. MOD4 was located on Capitol HIll in Seattle, and MOD5 openied in Alderwood in 2011. In 2012, MOD Pizza opened additional stores in the Seattle Center, Sammamish, and Redmond.

The new Mill Creek Well Fargo Bank branch will have a drive through window on the north side of the building.

September 15, 2013, update: According to Tom Gathmann, Mill Creek Public Works Director, the demolition of the old Shari’s building will begin the week of September 16th. Snohomish County PUD crew will be involved because a number of underground electrical lines will have to be re-routed.

The two tenants for the new building still have not been made public.

May 8, 2013, update: Tom Rogers, Mill Creek Community Development Director, announced at this week's City Council meeting that his department approved a new building on the Shari's Restaurant site.

The new building will look very much like the recently built Starbucks/Qdoba building next door and will have a drive through. Two tenants will be located in the new building, but their names have not yet been made public.

The new building's design will be presented for approval at the May 16, 2013 Mill Creek Design Review Board meeting.

Origninal June 24, 2012, article:

For 30 years Shari’s Restaurant of Mill Creek has been a convenient place to meet for coffee or food at all hours of the day or night. It all ended on June 24th when Shari’s Restaurant of Mill Creek closed its doors for good.

The notice on the door simply says, “Closed.” As with many business closures there was no formal announcement. Staff and customers were given the bare minimum two-weeks notice.

One information source speculates that the building had become run down and that the cost to upgrade the facility would cost too much. As of June 24th, there is no information on the Shari’s Restaurant website regarding the closure.

This is the second Mill Creek breakfast-serving restaurant closure in the past six months. The Mill Creek Patty’s Eggnest closed down earlier this year with even less notice than that given by Shari’s Restaurant.
