From a Snohomish County Council news release.
The Snohomish County Council selected Councilmember Terry Ryan to serve as chair of the council for 2016 in a 4-0 vote at their first meeting of the year on Monday, January 4, 2016. He served as vice-chair in 2015 under Chairman Dave Somers, who is now County Executive.
“I am really honored to be elected Council Chair. I am looking forward to working with the council and Executive Somers for the betterment of Snohomish County,” said Councilmember Ryan.
Councilmember Ryan is in his third year of his first term with the Snohomish County Council where he represents District 4, which includes unincorporated areas of Snohomish County as well as the cities of Bothell, Brier, Mill Creek and Mountlake Terrace. He resides in Mill Creek.
Following Chairman Ryan’s selection, the council selected Councilmember Brian Sullivan to serve as the vice-chair of the council, a position in which he has previously served.
Councilmember Sullivan will fulfill the chair’s duties if for any reason the chair is absent or unable. He is in his third term with the County Council and represents District 2, which includes unincorporated areas of Snohomish County, Everett, Mukilteo and Tulalip.
“I am excited for 2016 and to serve as vice-chair once more. This is a great opportunity to work together with Chair Ryan to move the County forward,” said Councilmember Sullivan.
The council holds a vote at the first meeting of every year to elect a chair and vice-chair.
