Snohomish County Medical Examiner identifies motorcyclist killed in collision southeast of Maltby

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office Collision Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal motorcycle and vehicle collision at the 10500 block of Paradise Lake Road on Tuesday, May 10, 2016.

May 18, 2016, update.

The Snohomish County Medical examiner has identified the deceased motorcycle rider as 47-year old Troy Schmidt of Woodinville.

According to the medical examiner's report the cause of death was blunt force trauma and the death was an accident.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigation Unit is still conducting their investigation of the accident.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office Collision Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal motorcycle and vehicle collision at the 10500 block of Paradise Lake Road on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. 

The motorcycle driver died at the scene. The driver of the other involved vehicle (who is uninjured) stayed at the scene and is cooperating with detectives. 

Paradise Lake Road was closed between 102nd Avenue SE and 232nd Street SE for the duration of the investigation, which took several hours.

The incident was reported around 1:00 p.m. when a witness to the collision called 911. The first Sheriff’s deputy to arrive performed CPR on the motorcycle driver prior to aid arriving on-scene.  

The victim is male – age and hometown are unknown.   Positive identification of the victim, as well as cause and manner of death, will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.

The cause of the collision will be determined by CIU detectives through their investigation of the incident.
