With spring in the air, thoughts turn to home repairs and maintenance. A number of those jobs require hiring a contractor, as well as expensive products to install. This is especially true for a home's exterior surfaces such as siding, roofing, windows and painting. Jobs like these can easily cost thousands of dollars. Luckily many of them include warranties that can stretch as long as 30, 40, or even 50 years. But if you want or need to rely on those warranties, you might want to read the fine print.

Mill Creek Business Association offering five college scholarships

The Mill Creek Business Association is offering five scholarships of $2,000 each to graduating seniors. All scholarships are open to students who are goal-oriented toward business, regardless of their actual majors.

Since its very beginnings, the Mill Creek Business Association has been committed to encouraging and assisting local high school students in their pursuit of higher learning in business or another field with which they would like to pursue a career in business.

The Mill Creek Business Association is offering five scholarships of $2,000 each to graduating seniors. All scholarships are open to students who are goal-oriented toward business, regardless of their actual majors.

Mill Creek’s popular Frost Doughnuts is moving from their current location to a larger space, but will remain in the Mill Creek Town Center.

Tom Rogers, Mill Creek Community Development Director, told the Mill Creek City Council about the move at their February 4, 2014, regular meeting.

The new Frost Doughnuts will be located in the same building as Hot Yoga at Mill Town Center and The Split End Salon.

Cinema entrepreneurs want to expand to Mill Creek or Bothell

At the January 28, 2014, city council meeting Tom Rogers, Mill Creek Community Development Director, reported Big Picture owners are interested in expanding their business to Mill Creek.

Mark Stern, founder of Big Picture Theaters in Seattle and Bellevue, visited Mill Creek in January to talk with city officials about developing a luxury movie theater.

Mill Creek business owner James Donaldson’s thoughts regarding Dennis Rodman’s North Korea trip

Based on my long-term friendship with James, a very educated man, I know he is a firm believer in keeping an open mind, listening, and talking with individuals with different views than his. He believes these are the best avenues to achieve change.

Since James has visited North Korea on two separate occasions, his thoughts have more credibility than the majority of other individuals who have commented about Rodman’s trip. Here are some of his thoughts regarding Rodman, the self-defined basketball “ambassador” to North Korea.

Elle’s Angels brighten the holidays for breast cancer survivors

Elle Marie Hair Studio raised over $6,000 for breast cancer survivors during their "Pink Hair 2 Save a Pair" fundraiser. The efforts were organized by the Elle’s Angels Foundation, which was created by the salon to raise money for local charities.

Christmas came early for a handful of deserving breast cancer survivors as Elle Marie Hair Studio recently distributed funds from their Pink Hair 2 Save a Pair fundraiser. The efforts were organized under the umbrella of the Elle’s Angels Foundation, which was created by the salon to raise money for local charities. Money was raised during the months of October and November as, for the 7th year in a row, the public was invited to have a pink hair extension applied for a $10 donation.

The 4th Annual Mill Creek “Home for the Holidays” Pet Adoption Center will once again open this year in the Mill Creek Town Center. The grand opening is on Friday, November 22nd, 2013.

Paddywack pet supply store in the Mill Creek Town Center is the primary sponsor and will be working with volunteers from the Community Cat Coalition and FurKidz 911 to coordinate the activities.
