The guest presenter at the March 20, 2013 Mill Creek Women's Club luncheon was Andrea Piercey, instructor and owner of the American Ballroom Dance Institute in Bothell.

After a short presentation about the studio, Andrea asked for volunteers to come up and learn some simple dance routines. She was both surprised and delighted when practically the whole room enthusiastically rose to their feet ready to dance and have fun!

Members and guests of the Mill Creek Women's Club enjoyed a fun “Antiques Roadshow” experience at the February 20th, 2013 luncheon.

Members and guests of the Mill Creek Women's Club enjoyed a fun “Antiques Roadshow” experience at the February 20th, 2013 luncheon. Edmonds antiques appraiser Mike Odell was the guest speaker, and members were invited to bring along their family heirlooms and collectibles for appraisal.

Odell entertained members and guests of the Mill Creek Women's Club with his many stories of growing up and working in London and his fascinating career in the antiques business. Odell told the group that during his career he has sold everything from a Russian Spacecraft to the facade of a building. He even bought $500 worth of seats from the old Kingdome for $5 each and sold them on Ebay for $350 each.

Dyann and her husband Rick wondered what retirement would bring them. They knew they wanted to travel and as they are both musicians they knew they wanted to do something involving music.

Members and guests of the Mill Creek Women's Club were treated on Wednesday, December 19th, to a glorious program of holiday music from the Jackson High School Jazz Ensemble.

Members and guests of the Mill Creek Women's Club were treated on Wednesday, December 19th, to a glorious program of holiday music from the Jackson High School Jazz Ensemble under the expert direction of Lesley Moffatt, a jazz pianist and trombone player herself.

The Jazz Ensemble is comprised of 9th - 12th grade students who passed a rigorous audition process for selection into this talented group. All of the members are currently enrolled in either a wind or percussion ensemble.

YWCA receives donation from Mill Creek Women's Club

Representatives from the YWCA were presented with a check for $18,098 from members of the Mill Creek Women's Club at their Christmas luncheon on December 19, 2012.

Representatives from the YWCA were presented with a check for $18,098 from members of the Mill Creek Women's Club at their Christmas luncheon on December 19, 2012. Included in this check was a $1,000 donation from Mill Creek Rotary.

The YWCA representatives who attended the luncheon were: Chief Executive Officer - Sue Sherbrooke, Snohomish Regional Director - Mary Ann Dillon and Community Affairs for Snohomish County - Luanne Kunz.

Brian the Movie Guy speaks at the Mill Creek Women's Club

Members and guests of the Mill Creek Women's Club were thoroughly entertained at the September 19th luncheon by guest speaker, Brian the Movie Guy. Brian told stories of how he got into the movie critic business and how he rates movies. He talked about his favorite movies and answered many questions from a thoroughly engaged audience. He shared that his favorite movie of all time is Raiders of the Lost Ark but he has 78 movies that are tied for second place!

Brian watches about 100 - 150 movies a year and his favorite part is the anticipation and being in a full theater surrounded with people seeing the movie for the first time and getting their raw reaction.

On May 9, 2012, over 100 Mill Creek Garden Club members and guests were thoroughly entertained by the "oh la la" gardening guru, Ciscoe Morris

Speaking with humor about many topics, growing tomatoes, aphids, black spot on roses, etc., Ciscoe was both entertaining and informative.  There were many questions following his presentation and he was able to answer them all.  Laughing and learning were the order of the day.

The Mill Creek Women's Club is a wonderful social and philanthropic club that meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, September through May at 10.30 am for a short meeting followed by a program and lunch at the Mill Creek Country Club. It is a place for women from the greater Mill Creek area to get together, meet new friends and give back to the community.

The March 21st program featured a Mother/Daughter Fashion Show with Coldwater Creek supplying the fashions for the mothers and White House Black Market outfitting the daughters. The show was a big success with more than 100 members and guests in attendance. The photo shows Patricia Brady and her daughter Shannon Schlosser modeling their outfits.

You don’t want to miss the Rotary Club of Mill Creek’s Annual Dinner and Benefit Auction on March 31st. This year's theme is Fiesta de Carnival in recognition of the fellow Rotary Clubs in Latin America. As a service organization, Rotary Clubs work against poverty, birth defects, disease, hunger, pollution, and illiteracy in Latin America as well as other parts of the world.

Laughing Buddha Yoga Sudio is forming a mentoring program for teenage girls. The Shakti Club is a space for girls aged 12-18 to gather, free of charge, to explore their inner strength, confidence and truth through the practice of yoga and other fun activities. In a world where so much emphasis is placed on competition, achievement and outer appearances, Shakti Club encourages each girl to discover the strength and beauty that resides within.
