Community Transit Board approves low-income bus fare

The Community Transit Board of Directors unanimously approved a reduced bus fare category for eligible low-income residents.

The new fare will be half the price of a regular adult fare and will go into effect on July 1st.

Community Transit seeking applications from local nonprofits for van awards

Community Transit will award ten surplus vans, earmarked for auction, to local nonprofit organizations in 2019 to further meet the local demand for transportation.

Applications are due by March 29th.

Community Transit will operate local buses and DART paratransit service within Snohomish County on regular schedule on Presidents Day, February 18th.

Commuter service to Seattle and UW will be limited to specific routes.

Five Community Transit drivers were honored in October with the agency’s prestigious Million Mile Award, for reaching safe driving milestones without a preventable accident. The drivers qualified for the honor by meeting strict National Safety Council guidelines for driving.

Proposed 2019 Community Transit budget adds Swift Green Line and more transit police

Community Transit’s Proposed 2019 Budget projects a 7.9 percent increase in sales tax revenue over 2018 while expenditures will increase 13.5 percent.

The budget proposal assumes operating expenses of $161 million and capital expenses of $33.5 million for new projects.

On October 1st, 2018, Community Transit’s local bus and DART paratransit fares will increase by 25 cents. Vanpool fares will also increase by an average of three percent, or about $14 a van per month.

Community Transit will be at several job fairs in the next month to recruit new bus drivers, mechanics, marketers, planners and other positions. The Snohomish County transit agency’s continued service expansion is creating dozens of good-paying jobs.

Swift Blue Line returns to 10-minute service with a fare increase on September 24th

The Swift Blue Line, Community Transit’s highest ridership route, will see a 20 percent increase in weekday service starting Monday, September 24th.

The bus rapid transit line that runs on Highway 99 between Everett and Shoreline will get an additional 28 trips a day.

Buses will be on Sunday schedule on Labor Day, September 3rd

Labor Day is also the last day of the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe. Community Transit provides service directly to the Fair’s West Gate entrance.
