Workers began preparations for construction of Mill Creek’s newest commercial development in the East Gateway Urban Village the week of February 9th.

The Mill Creek City Council unanimously approved the Vintage at Mill Creek development agreement at their regular October 6th, meeting. This action clears the way for the Mill Creek Hearing Examiner to review the proposed binding site plan.

By authorizing Mill Creek City Manager Rebecca Polizzotto to find a paid consultant for an economic feasibility study, the city council has begun to re-evaluate their vision for the East Gateway Urban Village.

At their April 14th meeting a majority of the Mill Creek City Council approved Polygon Northwest’s request to allow slightly different uses of the commercial portion of their East Gateway Urban Village property than originally intended.

In a March 19th, letter to the Mill Creek City Council Polygon Northwest’s Washington Division President Derek Straight wrote, “After several months of marketing the commercial parcels, we received strong interest from two parties, a local dental office and an early childcare school operator named Primrose with a local franchisee.”

City of Mill Creek officials have pretty much given up hope that a big box store will come to town in the foreseeable future. As disclosed in recent public discussions, the amount of remaining land in Mill Creek not under development or contract is probably too small to support such a large store.

The City of Mill Creek has set the date and time for the official grand opening of Buffalo Park to be Friday, April 24, 2015, at 3 pm.

Mill Creek's newest park is nearing completion. The remaining work includes final construction of the restroom/shelter building, final landscaping, and installation of picnic tables, benches, BBQs and the water fountain.
