According to Erika Thomas, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife spokesperson, “It’s an opportunity for people and their dogs to participate together.  We will also have several of our Karelian Bear Dogs and their handlers at the event so people and their dogs will be able to meet them.”

Boston’s Restaurant & Sports Bar in Mill Creek (Boston’s) is hosting its annual Boston’s Cares fundraising campaign from February 4-17, 2013 to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Boston’s Restaurant & Sports Bar in Mill Creek (Boston’s) is hosting its annual Boston’s Cares fundraising campaign from February 4-17, 2013 to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

During this time, Boston’s locations across the United States will collect proceeds from one specialty menu item, heart-shaped pizzas and paper hearts to support groundbreaking research and treatment of children with cancer and other deadly diseases.

Boston’s will offer a special dessert menu option, Red Velvet Cheesecake, along with paper hearts available for purchase throughout the duration of the campaign. $1 from the sale of every Red Velvet Cheesecake along with 100 percent of the paper heart proceeds will go directly to Boston’s Pizza Foundation, benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Dyann and her husband Rick wondered what retirement would bring them. They knew they wanted to travel and as they are both musicians they knew they wanted to do something involving music.

Former Mill Creek City Councilmember Terry Ryan announced his candidacy for the Snohomish County Council’s District 4 seat today, January 17, 2013.

Former Mill Creek City Councilmember Terry Ryan announced his candidacy for the Snohomish County Council’s District 4 seat on January 16, 2013.

Ryan announced that he is seeking the Councilmember position as a Democrat.

District 4 contains the City of Mill Creek as well as parts of Mountlake Terrace, Lynnwood, Briar, Bothell, and unincorporated Snohomish County. County Councilmember Dave Gossett, a Democrat from Mountlake Terrace, currently represents the District. Since Councilmember Gossett has served for three consecutive terms, he is unable to run again.

Team kick-off for 2013 Relay for Life of Mill Creek

The 2013 Relay for Life of Mill Creek organizers will hold a kick-off meeting at the former Zen Garden Restaurant on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 7:00 PM.

Looking to build upon Mill Creek’s successful American Cancer Society Relay for Life event last summer, planning is underway to grow participation to 35 teams and donations to exceed $60,000 this year. 

Interested members of the greater Mill Creek community are invited to attend the kick-off meeting at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at the former Zen Garden Restaurant at 16300 Mill Creek Blvd.

Attic fire contained with no injuries in Mays Pond

Snohomish County Fire District 7 responded to the 18400 block of 20th Drive SE in Mays Pond for a reported resident structural fire just after 3:00 AM on Saturday, January 12, 2013.

Snohomish County Fire District 7 responded to the 18400 block of 20th Drive SE in Mays Pond for a reported resident structural fire just after 3:00 AM on Saturday, January 12, 2013.

Firefighters arrived to a duplex residential structure with fire showing from the back of the residence extending to the attic. Crews confirmed all occupants had evacuated and began an offensive fire attack.

Firefighters and staff at Snohomish County Fire District 7 helped support fifteen local families this holiday season.

Firefighters and staff at Snohomish County Fire District 7 helped support fifteen local families this holiday season. Each of Fire District 7’s fire stations adopted two to three families in need; buying them holiday gifts they wouldn’t otherwise be able to give their children.

Jackson High School Jazz Ensemble perform at Mill Creek Women's Club Luncheon

Members and guests of the Mill Creek Women's Club were treated on Wednesday, December 19th, to a glorious program of holiday music from the Jackson High School Jazz Ensemble.

Members and guests of the Mill Creek Women's Club were treated on Wednesday, December 19th, to a glorious program of holiday music from the Jackson High School Jazz Ensemble under the expert direction of Lesley Moffatt, a jazz pianist and trombone player herself.

The Jazz Ensemble is comprised of 9th - 12th grade students who passed a rigorous audition process for selection into this talented group. All of the members are currently enrolled in either a wind or percussion ensemble.

Representatives from the YWCA were presented with a check for $18,098 from members of the Mill Creek Women's Club at their Christmas luncheon on December 19, 2012.

Representatives from the YWCA were presented with a check for $18,098 from members of the Mill Creek Women's Club at their Christmas luncheon on December 19, 2012. Included in this check was a $1,000 donation from Mill Creek Rotary.

The YWCA representatives who attended the luncheon were: Chief Executive Officer - Sue Sherbrooke, Snohomish Regional Director - Mary Ann Dillon and Community Affairs for Snohomish County - Luanne Kunz.
