Snohomish County focuses on attracting new business ventures near Paine Field and Arlington Marysville Manufacturing Industrial Center

On Thursday, January 3, 2019, Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers declared an undeveloped portion of Paine Field in Everett and the Arlington Marysville Manufacturing Industrial Center as areas where dedicated county resources will facilitate and expedite projects supporting new business ventures.

Text-to-9-1-1 service now available in both Snohomish and King Counties

Text-to-9-1-1 is an emergency service that has been available in Snohomish County since 2015, and on December 20th, 2018, Text-to-9-1-1 is also available in neighboring King County for the first time.  This service is intended to benefit people who may not be able to speak due to an emergency such as a home invasion or abusive partner, as well as those who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech impaired.

Carnegie Resource Center opens as an innovative gateway to services

The Carnegie Resource Center offers a one-stop location where individuals can engage with several specialized service providers to get assistance and referrals into programs.  Opened in December, the center is targeted to serve veterans, individuals experiencing chronic homelessness, and people suffering from substance use and/or mental health disorders.

Everett Public Schools receives grants to establish medical pathways program

Everett Public Schools plans an initial launch to its medical and health careers pathway program in fall 2019 and has received grants to help achieve this. The district aims to set interested students on the pathway to high demand careers while strengthening community’s vitality and economic growth.

Fire District 1 seeks pro/con dissolution committee members

Snohomish County Fire District 1 is seeking committee members to prepare pro and/or con statements for the February 12, 2018, special election ballot measure to dissolve the fire district. Even though Fire District 1 no longer provides fire and emergency medical services, it continues to exist as a special purpose district that can only be dissolved by a vote of the people.
