High school football: Archbishop Murphy 40, University City 26

The Everett Herald reports that the Archbishop Murphy football team beat University City 40-26 in San Diego on Friday, September 7th.

"Hans Vanderwel and the offensive line helped Archbishop Murphy to victory in San Diego 40-26 over University City. Vanderwel ran over 200 yards had a 95 yard kickoff return and some lights out hits on defense, according to Wildcats head coach Bill Marsh. Ricky Gordon also contributed to Archbishop Murphy's early lead with a 20-yard fumble return and a 16-yard rushing TD."

High school football: Jackson 44, Everett 7

The Everett Herald reports that the Jackson High School Timberwolves beat Everett High School 44-7 at Everett Memorial Stadium on Friday, September 7th.

"Timberwolves quarterback Conor Plaisance threw two touchdowns to Trey Robinson and John-Robert Woolley added two scores on the ground to lead Jackson to a nonleague victory over Everett. Garret Wise caught a 71-yard pass from Nolan Rogge for the Seagulls' lone touchdown."

High school girls soccer: Archbishop Murphy 2, Marysville Pilchuck 1

The Everett Herald reports that the Archbishop Murphy girls soccer team beat Marysville Pilchuck High School 2-1 at Archbishop Murphy High School on Thursday, September 6th.

"Cecilia Nguyen set up both goals for Archbishop Murphy and Brooke Richardson scored the game-winner with 10 minutes to go to help the Wildcats win the nonleague match."

High school volleyball: Archbishop Murphy 3, Lakewood 1

The Everett Herald reports that the Archbishop Murphy High School volleyball team beat Lakewood High School 3-1 at Archbishop Murphy High School on Thursday, September 6th. This was Archbishop Murphy's first Cascade Conference 2A volleyball match this season.

"Archbishop Murphy: Angelina DeGrazia 4 kills, 10 digs; Rachel Gordon 6 kills, 3 aces; Madeline Johnson 19 digs; Abby Jamieson 18 assists."

High school girls soccer: Kamiak 1, Jackson 0

The Everett Herald reports that the Kamiak High School girls soccer team shutout the Timberwolves 1-0 at Kamiak High School on Thursday, September 6th.

"Kamiak's Emele Chaddock scored the game's lone goal on an assist from Bailey Lux-Lowry to lead the Knights to a win over Jackson in a Wesco 4A South game."

The Jackson High School girls soccer team is now 1-1 in the league, and 1-1 overall.

2012 Mill Creek Kid’s Fun Run registration now open

The 2012 Mill Creek Kid’s Fun Run will be held Saturday, August 11th at Heatherwood Middle School.

The 2012 Mill Creek Kid’s Fun Run will be held Saturday, August 11th at Heatherwood Middle School.

Children ages 3 years through 5th grade are invited to participate in three age-appropriate run/walks starting at 10:00 AM.

A t-shirt will be provided to those who register before August 3rd.

$5 of the $15 registration fee will be donated to the American Red Cross Relief effort to help families in Snohomish County.

Organized by the Washington State Cross Country Coaches Association (WSCCCA), the East/West Senior All-Star Race is an invitational race comprised of graduating high school seniors who competed at the state level and meet the 5K-time standard of 17:45 to 22:00.

Mill Creek’s Run of the Mill 5K road race an overwhelming success

Mill Creek’s Run of the Mill 5k road race sponsored by Columbia Funding Mortgage was a success by every measure. There were over 1,400 runners at this year’s race through the Mill Creek Town Center, and over $25,000 was raised for charity. The blue skies and warm temperatures brought out a large crowd of spectators on Saturday, July 7th.
