Everett School Board to consider April 22nd special election

The Everett School board will review the results of the February 11th special election, review the components of a capital facilities bond proposal, and approve a resolution for a special April 22nd election at a special meeting on March 6, 2014, at 5:30 pm.

The Board of Directors of Everett School District No. 2, Snohomish County, Washington, will hold a special board meeting at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the Community Resource Center, 3900 Broadway, Everett, Washington.

According to the school district’s news release, “The purpose of the special meeting is to review the results of the February 11, 2014 special election, review the development history and the components of a capital facilities bond proposal, and approve a resolution for placement of a capital facilities bond on the April 22, 2014, special election ballot.”

The bond being considered is the same as the one that failed to pass in the February 11th special election. It includes a new high school and a new elementary school in the south end of the county, which will alleviate overcrowding at south end schools. As well it incudes modernization of older buildings at Cascade High School, North Middle School, and Woodside Elementary School.

The preliminary meeting agenda includes time for public comments at the beginning of the meeting.
