Everett School Board to interview five candidates to fill Jessica Olson’s seat

On Friday afternoon, January 24, 2014, the Everett Public Schools Board reviewed the applications of seven district residents who applied to be considered for appointment to fill the board member seat vacated by Jessica Olson who resigned on January 7, 2014.

Pool of seven applicants was narrowed to five for February 3rd interview sessions in Open Session.

On Friday afternoon, January 24, 2014, the Everett Public Schools Board of Directors reviewed the applications of seven district residents who applied to be considered for appointment to fill the board member seat vacated by Jessica Olson who resigned on January 7, 2014.

As per board policy, the board chose five of the seven candidates to interview on Monday, February 3, 2014, beginning at 3 pm in the Board Room of the Community Resource Center at 3900 Broadway in Everett.

The candidates selected for interview are:

  • Michelle Black
  • Daniel Mills
  • Traci Mitchell
  • Arletha Northrop
  • Kristine Petereit

The schedule for interviews is:

  • 3:00 pm: Candidate #1
  • 3:45 pm: Candidate #2
  • 4:30 pm: Brief recess
  • 4:45 pm: Candidate #3
  • 5:30 pm: Candidate #4
  • 6:15 pm: Brief recess
  • 6:30 pm: Candidate #5
  • 7:15 pm: Public comment
  • 7:45 pm: Brief recess
  • 8:00 pm: Deliberation in Executive Session
  • 9:00 pm: Selection in Open Session

The candidate appointed to the position will serve as a member of the Board of Directors until that position’s term ends in 2015. In 2015, the appointee may choose whether to run for election to serve another term in that position.
