H.M. Jackson High School student Dan Cho received a prestigious honor from 5th Avenue Theatre Awards: Honoring High School Musical Theater on May 29, 2013.

This is the first time in three years a student from Jackson has been nominated!

Colleen Miller, Drama instructor at H.M. Jackson High School, announced “Dan Cho received a prestigious honor yesterday from the 5th Avenue Theatre High School Awards.

In the Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Featured Ensemble Role category, Cho earned honorable mention for his portrayal as Jester in Once Upon a Mattress.

Dan has worked so hard all four years at Jackson,” continued Miller. “He is a great example of a student who can achieve in the classroom, in the arts, and be a great kid to be around.”

Each year, 5th Avenue Theatre evaluators attend musical theater productions at high schools throughout Washington state. This year the evaluators saw 105 productions and considered the performance of hundreds of student actors.

This local announcement comes ahead of the full cast of winners the 5th Avenue Theatre will announce at a special ceremony on June 11, 2013.
