A resident in the neighboring duplex unit reported the fire about 5:10 p.m. in the 19900 block of Filbert Road in unincorporated Snohomish County. The neighbor saw smoke coming from the back of the unit where the man lived.

A Snohomish County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived at the scene before firefighters and kicked in the door and pulled the man from the smoke-filled unit.  Firefighters transported the man to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital. His injuries were serious, but did not appear to be life-threatening.
