Mill Creek Little League Softball team advances to West Region semi-finals

The Mill Creek majors division softball team beat Southern California in San Bernardino 3-2 with a walk off single to advance to the Little League Softball West Region semifinals on Wednesday, July 24, 2109.

The Little League Softball West Region conducts a double elimination tournament, so even though Mill Creek lost to Hawaii on Tuesday, July 23rd, their win over Southern California keeps them in the hunt for the championship.

With two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Emery Tulio drove in two runs with a single, tying the game at 2-2.

Next up, Kiana Holden singled, scoring the winning run.

Yanina Sherwood was the winning pitcher. She struck out three batters with no walks and showed great command with 17 first pitch strikes in six innings.

Gabrielle Raysbrook led the Mill Creek offense with three hits in three at bats.

Mill Creek plays Hawaii in the West Region Tournament semifinals on Thursday, July 25th.

Mill Creek’s roster includes: Addison Bale, Kyla Conant, Elena Eigner, Cael Hare, Kiana Holden, Leneyah Mitchell, Gabrielle Raysbrook, Yanina Sherwood, Allie Thomsen, Emery Tulio, Kendall Westman, Reese Westman, and Aubree Orr.

Mill Creek’s 11 and 12-year-olds advanced to the Little League Softball West Region Tournament in San Bernardino by winning the Washington State Championship in Poulsbo on July 7th.

They came out on top by winning all five state championship tournament games and outscoring their opponents 52-3.
