Clearview, Washington  –  Gregg Knapp was honored December 26, 2013, at his last board meeting as a fire commissioner for Snohomish County Fire District 7. After serving for 18 years, Knapp decided not to re-run for his position.

During the brief ceremony Knapp was thanked by fellow board members, firefighters and staff for his commitment to serving the community. Fire Chief Gary Meek spoke to Knapp’s service, but first presented Knapp’s wife, Brenda, with roses in appreciation of her support.

“On behalf of Fire District 7 I would like to thank Commissioner Knapp for his devoted service to our fire district,” said Chief Meek. “He dedicated countless hours to advancing our department and serving our community.”

Knapp was first elected to the board in 1996. His interest for the fire service began after working on a joint arson task force during his career with the King County Sheriff’s Office. Throughout his tenure he served on the Joint Fire Board with the city of Mill Creek. He also served several years as the board representative on the regional fire authority, risk management, and training center committees.

Guy Palumbo has been elected to replace Knapp and will be sworn in at a January board meeting.
