The Everett School District is looking for volunteers for multiple Stuff the Bus community events in August.

From an Everett School District news release.

Two ways to Feel Good this month

  1. Help Stuff the Bus August 16th, 17th, and 19th.
  2. Help stuff backpacks August 23rd, 24th, 27th, and 28th.

Gathering supplies and packing backpacks helps each student have tools for school success.

1. Feel good on Aug. 16, 17 and 19

When was the last time you were on a yellow school bus?

In August, you can get your yellow bus fix and help students at the same time. On Thursday, Friday and Sunday, Aug. 16, 17 and 19 big yellow buses will be parked at five local businesses. Generous volunteers and happy people just like you will be aboard those buses to collect donations and supplies that will help start the year “prepared” for students who need that collective community help.

Opportunities for two-hour shifts of time spent helping others are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 16, 17 and 19 at:

  • Broadway QFC at 2615 Broadway Ave. in Everett
  • Evergreen QFC at 4919 Evergreen Way in Everett
  • Safeway at 5802 134th Place SE in Everett
  • Fred Meyer at 12906 Bothell-Everett Hwy. in Everett
  • Central Market at 15605 Main Street in Mill Creek

E-mail Kristie at Kristie Dutton (kdutton@everettsd.org) to choose your date and time – before the opportunity slots are all filled!

Saturday, Aug. 18, is “Boeing Day” at all five Stuff the Bus locations. Thank you Boeing!

2. Feel good on Aug. 23, 24, 27 and 28

Oh, the stuff you will see and the fun you will have packing backpacks for kids who will get them for the first day of school.

Assembly line packing slots of two hours each are available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Aug. 23 and 24 and again on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 27 and 28 at the district bus barn at 1304 80th St. SW in Everett.

With your help and that of other enthusiastic packers, we will have at least 1,716 backpacks stuffed and ready for delivery to schools on Aug. 29. That is the number of backpacks requested by schools last spring – a reflection of the number of students who need community support to ensure that each student has school supplies needed to begin school ready to learn.

E-mail Kristie Dutton (kdutton@everettsd.org) to choose your date and time – before the best times for backpack packing are all filled!

Not available on any of the “feel good” dates above?

You can still “feel good” about getting a student ready for school by donating through PayPal at http://www.everett.k12.wa.us/epsf.
