On January first, Lake Stevens Fire and Snohomish County Fire District 7 officially merged agencies. The new district serves over 162,000 people over 140 square miles.
The merger involves several steps and officials from the combined fire agency want to make sure both communities stay informed.
On Monday, December 23rd, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner identified the skeletal remains of a body found in February 2015 as Nathaniel Terrence Davies, who was 65 years old at the time of his death.
His remains were found in a shed near the Bothell-Everett Highway.

Mill Creek Garden Club members avoided being on Santa’s “Naughty List” by bringing toys, stuffed animals, hats and mittens, holiday gift wrap and lights to the Club’s annual Christmas party on December 10th.
All the donated items were delivered to Christmas House for local families.
Snohomish County recently received a grant to add continuous center turn lanes, sidewalks, bike lanes, curbs, and gutters on 35th Avenue SE from Maltby Road to 180th Street SE.
The grant enables construction to start during spring 2020.

On Friday, December 6th, the Community Transit Board of Directors approved the agency’s 2020 Budget that will increase service 5% in 2020 as the agency expands bus service for Snohomish County residents.
Project development will continue for the Swift Orange Line through Mill Creek.

Members of the city’s Citizen Patrol are taking to the streets of Mill Creek Town Center as a way to establish a positive presence and deter illegal activity.
Wednesday, November 20th, was the first day of this new foot patrol program.
After a number of November budget discussions, the city council voted 6-1 to increase the property tax levy and 7-0 to increase the EMS levy by 1% for 2020 as at their November 26th meeting.
This works out to $8.95 of additional taxes for a house valued at $500,000.
Newly elected Mill Creek Councilmembers John Steckler and Stephanie Vignal were administered their oaths of office by Mayor Pam Pruitt at the November 26th city council meeting.
Their new terms of office run until December 31, 2021.
